What was your first job? Mine was making teas for the village cricket team.
I’d spotted a £12 jacket I loved in New Look and was worried that by the time I saved up for it with 50p a week pocket money, it would be out of stock. It was time to start earning a living!
From age 12 to 14 I worked with a £30 budget each week to create a tea-time feast for the local and visiting cricket teams. Anything left at the end was my wage, so I learned to make every cake, scone and sandwich filling from scratch rather than blowing the budget on ready-made treats. I was able to buy that jacket within a fortnight and from then on my wardrobe grew week on week. I have always been someone who has found ways to earn money to buy the things I wanted, my parents always wanted me to understand that you had to work hard and save for the things you desired.
I then moved on to working in a Café in central Bristol for almost 2 years before securing my first retail job at Faith Shoes, which led me to an impressive shoe collection aged 17, think Spice Girl style chunky trainers and platform shoes, how I managed to walk I really don’t know. Nowadays you’ll only ever find me in boots, trainers or flip flops depending on the season!
