As we reach the end of the week, I am reflecting on what has been a pretty good week at Isme. There have been a number of reasons for this, firstly the sun is shining and blossom is on the trees. Spring is by far my favourite season of the year, I love seeing everything coming back to life and get a real sense of new beginnings. The longer daylight hours creeping in and warmer weather on it’s way. It’s great for the mind.
We were also delighted on Wednesday to receive a call from a client offering our candidate a new role. This candidate had been made redundant during 2020 and since then had just been in a few temporary roles, not really using his full skills and ability. He went on interview on Monday, and we were over the moon to make the offer to him two days later. I have been doing this for over 20 years but when you match a client with the right person who is also grateful for the opportunity, it lights me up inside, it’s pretty magical. Seeing someone start a new career is amazing and for the employer, growing their team with the right people makes all the tricky parts of our job seem worth it.
After receiving this very positive news, I headed into Bristol to meet Danni, our newest team member at the station. We were off to an event being hosted by Society of Bristol Business Women. This a great powerhouse of female leaders and I was delighted at the end of last year to be asked to join their committee. This month we were treated to a fantastic presentation from the inspiration that is Ellie Webb, founder of Caleno. Ellie talked to us about her journey as a young entrepreneur who created a non-alcoholic spirit and the path, she has been on developing this. Her product is now stocked in Sainsburys, Waitrose and M & S. She also sells via Amazon and their own website. In 3 years, she has grown this business and the team around her, surviving a pandemic and winning various business awards along the way. I was keen for Danni to come along to this event as I knew how inspiring it would be for her. We were then treated to an update around Data Protection and Cyber Security for Claire Hall from VWV. VWV were kind enough to host this event for us and it was so nice to be back enjoying in-person networking again. I hadn’t seen some of these ladies in the flesh for over 2 years.
I’ve finished off the week interviewing for my own team, the Isme team is going to be expanding in 2022 and we have lots of exciting services that we will be bringing to our clients. We suddenly find ourselves in a position where the majority of our live vacancies have been filled in recent weeks and we are able to take on additional clients, do get in touch if you would like to discuss the services we can offer.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine!
