How can it be the end of April already, having just returned from two weeks annual leave, I feel like the month had only just started. After spending two weeks in Florida with Mickey and friends, I feel like I have come back for a rest! Anyone that has done the Disney Parks and Universal Studios will know how full on it is, especially with 3 children aged 3-8 years old. But as this holiday has been rescheduled twice since getting cancelled in 2020, it was long overdue.

I’m feeling thankful today for the great team we are building at Isme People, in the past year we have recruited two additional heads into the team. Last June, Nathan Isaacs joined the team as a Resourcer and he has been a huge support in identifying talent, advertising roles, supporting with our new website launch, and generally keeping on top of the admin tasks within the business. Then in March this year Danni Lee joined our team as a Recruitment Consultant and has hit the ground running. Before my holiday I spent 4 weeks training and supporting Danni, she has learnt quickly but I did feel slightly apprehensive about leaving her after only 4 weeks. However, I needn’t have been, both Nathan and Danni have done a fantastic job at keeping on top of everything in my absence and managed to fill a few roles for our clients whilst I was off, which was great news to come back to.

Any small business owner will appreciate that it’s very hard to really have a holiday, since starting this business 5 years ago, I have always taken my laptop on holiday with me and had to spend some time each day catching up with work. I did take my laptop away again this time, however only needed to log on once to sort an admin task that only I could do. Anything else I was able to respond to on my phone and the team messaged me with any questions they couldn’t answer, which was minimal. I am so proud of how much they have both developed in the time they have worked at Isme People and it feels great to be growing such a strong and supportive team. Next week we welcome another addition to the team, which will only strengthen us further.

After a very busy start to 2022 and most of our vacancies now filled, we are now able to take on additional clients. With Laura, who has spent years in the recruitment sector, joining us in June, there will be capacity for us to support more businesses as they grow their teams. Do let us know if you require any support. This support may be the in the form of the actual hiring and identifying the right people, or it could be supporting you with on-boarding and inductions once the individuals have started. We offer many services to small businesses and would love an informal chat to understand you needs.

I hope you all got some downtime over Easter and enjoyed some sunshine. I’m certainly enjoying the fact that Spring has arrived, and the evenings are much lighter.
